The ModFab Gallery: While Seated Edition
Usually the ModFab Gallery Best In Show is a tight race between three or four nominees. But last week, voters overwhelming marked their ballots for Rare Birds' beautifully stylish "Fur". Never has a parka been so magical. Congratulations!
The crisp, indelible imagery of While Seated has been a ModFab Gallery favorite for some time, but even we didn't realize quite how busy Michael David Murphy is on the net. In addition to Seated, the San Francisco-based photographer and musician hosts his own commercial photography and fine art website; a blog called 2Point8, dedicated to the art of street photography; and Unphotographable, a text blog that details in rich language the photos Murphy didn't take (and maybe wishes he had). With all this work, it's amazing that While Seated remains such a vital artistic effort; the photographs often jolt the viewer by recontextualizing its subjects, simultaneously pinpointing a moment and expanding a worldview. Impressive work.
